In the fast-growing world of Autonomous Vehicles (AV), testing self-driving models in real life can be risky and very expensive. Our client needed a highly accurate, virtual testing ground.
Using the CARLA Simulator, our dedicated team of digital innovators engineered a professional-grade simulation environment. This allowed the client to safely test their automated driving models, process custom 3D point-cloud data, and simulate real-world traffic scenarios without any physical risks.

Key Tasks and Development Phases
To deliver an end-to-end, one-stop solution, our engineering team broke the project down into several complex tasks across the product lifecycle:
1. Custom 3D Environment Design
We utilized Unreal Engine 5 alongside the CARLA Simulator to build immersive, highly interactive visual simulations. The team created custom city layouts, complex highway systems, and extreme weather conditions to test the vehicles in all possible real-world scenarios.
2. Sensor Setup and Lidar Engineering
A major task was the precise placement and calibration of virtual sensors on the vehicles. We successfully integrated high-definition cameras, GPS, Radar, and Lidar sensors. Using Open3D and custom programming, we managed complex 3D point-cloud data processing to ensure the self-driving AI received accurate environmental data.
3. Traffic and Pedestrian AI Programming
To make the simulation realistic, we programmed automated traffic behaviors. This included self-driving background vehicles, unpredictable pedestrian movements, and strict traffic rule compliance, giving the client’s AV models a challenging and dynamic testing ground.
4. Integration with Automated Driving Models
Using robust back-end logic with Python and C++, we seamlessly connected the client’s core AI/ML deep learning models (built on PyTorch) directly into the CARLA environment. This allowed for real-time, closed-loop testing.
5. Rigorous Quality Assurance (QA) and Testing
To guarantee bug-free and smooth deployments, our rigorous QA department spent 2 full months testing the simulation. We ran thousands of automated crash scenarios and edge cases to ensure the physics engine and sensor data outputs were absolutely flawless.
